Stasis Activity (Jennifer Magers)

- Fact or Definition-- Don Imus made an inappropriate comment which referred to the Rutgers women’ basketball team as “Nappy headed hos.” The comment was not only offensive to the basketball team, but to all listeners as well.

- Comparison/Contrast-- Comparison and contrast is used when Lauer says that it is not the first time Mr. Imus has crossed the line. He compares his new controversy with a time when he referred to Gwen Ifill as a cleaning lady.

- Cause and Consequence-- This type of argument is used when Don states that he is responsible for what happens on the program, and that he understands he should not be excused for his remark. He said he will take his 2 week suspension without whining.

- Value/Worth-- Don argues that he is a man who can keep his word and who has done things to help others. The argument made implies that the good things he has done outweighs his comment about the basketball team.

- Policy-- Don Imus is given a two week suspension, but Rev. Sharpton argues that he should be kicked off the air and fired.

- Standing/Jursidiction-- Rev. Sharpton argues that the basketball team has the right to decide if he should be forgiven. Whether forgiven or not, he also argues that Don should be given a penalty, that which should be firing him
